The problem is the problematic people in library space guilty of micro and macro aggressions don’t care about these conversations and find a way to be unavailable for these workshops

As stated, my biggest concern with AI art is that often times this type of art takes art from other people without their consent and copies it to learn from it. This can be considered plagiarism in some cases where there is limited change in the final product. I think that this is a huge problem because while someone may have an original thought, the product is not original. It takes away from the skillset that those individuals have taken time to perfect.

Great presentation. I think an important distinction is that Perplexity isn't necessarily citing its answer, it is combining a web search with a large language model answer (which uses the GPT models).

Are these tools only available to public and academic libraries? Or do other library types have access (i.e. school, special, government (like state libraries), museums, ...)

So all of these speed bumps exist to preserve "the market". How much do we need to ensure for the same of the market which is becoming an increasingly broken and limiting abstraction. Maybe this system has outlived its purpose and it's time to remove it by the root.

    • @shodanxx

I mean it's what has been leading to the idiocy called NTFs. To make something infinitely available scarce again, what an horrible legal misstep this entire past century has been. Copy is not an object, it is not scarce it is infinite, stop trying to make it scarce again, stop trying to cripple the mind of humanity. The disease is capital infiltrating the mind where it is not appropriate. Look at the horror that music and journalism has gone through, all of this was unnecessary. And then we've had the platforms Netflix, audible, apple music. Everything for one price, ok that's sort of better but it sucks. And what happens next ? Oh many platforms, what garbage ! I'm not going to maintaining 20 subscriptions ! I'm cancelling my Netflix, flipping your table a going straight to the bay. So we have to spend the next 15 years of this rigamarole ? Why not Skip this BS and go directly to the destination ? A single international platform, tax funded by states, that gives unlimited access to all of humanity to everything ever made forever but in exchange for taking your actual listening watching time and funding the creators based on watch values ? It is already headed in this direction but the market will never provide a non horrible exploitative solution. The system must not be designed from the standpoint of capitalism but from the standpoint of the human receiving the content. What we want is everything, always instantly accessible forever. Deliver that THEN compensate the creator proportionally with usage.

There is mention in this video of a "community document" where speakers are posting useful links. Is that available anywhere? Also, at the beginning of the video, there is an outline of the different topics, speaker names, and their titles/workplaces. Is it possible to insert that outline above, in the video notes? That would be very helpful. Thank you for sharing this video!
